This week we became aware of a vulnerability that can cause certain information about Vopium users that should be private to become accessible to individuals who know how to extract it if Vopium is used on open Wifi networks.

We updated our Android Apps today, and they are available for download on the Android Market. Our updated iPhone app will be available on the App Store pending Apple’s approval. Users will be informed automatically when the updated apps are available.

Nokia/Symbian and Blackberry apps have also been updated and pending AppWorld and OVI Store approval but can be downloaded from get.vopium.com

We encourage our users to update their Vopium apps by pointing their mobile browser to get.vopium.com

More power!!!” That was the reaction of Sandy Grazielle of Perth, Australia after being told she was one of five grand prize winners of the Vopium Birthday Blowout.

Sandy is joined by Edmond Wong of San Jose, USA; Michael Khan from London; Valéria de Oliveira Brito from Brazil and Jeremy Hai from Singapore: Five winners from five continents that will each receive 5 YEARS OF FREE CALLS from Vopium.

It’s hard to imagine that it has only been 5 years but time flies.  Vopium has made it to the ripe old age of five years old and starting on October 10, our birthday party begins!
In five short years, Vopium has grown from being a solution, the company’s founders developed to help their families call home, to now, a solution that helps more than 1,000,000 users around the world phone home.

Not much has changed. We still connect families around the world but now, we also connect their friends, professionals, and even whole companies.

The guys who started Vopium were ex-pats living in Denmark. They used to watch their parents buy phone cards, scratch off the numbers, watch them put on their glasses so they could read the numbers and then, worse yet, try to dial the numbers and wait to connect so they could again, dial the family’s home number back in the old country. Being respectful loving children and the geeks they were, they decided to invent a better way for their parents to connect, Vopium!

We’ve done a lot over the years to improve the app but we still work hard every day trying to make it even better. There are now nearly 100 Vopium employees spread out across the globe dedicated to improving our service to you.
